Collection and use of your data

The use of our website is generally possible without the provision of any personal data. However, sometimes personal data is processed. When this is the case is laid out below.

Use for informational purposes

If you use our web pages for information purposes, you do not need to make personal data available.

Rather, in this case we collect and use only the data which your internet browser transmits to us automatically, such as:

  • The date and time you access our web pages
  • Your browser type
  • Browser settings
  • The operating system used
  • The page you visited most recently
  • The transmitted data volume and access status (file transmitted, file not found, etc.) and
  • Your IP address.

When our web pages are visited for information purposes, we only collect this data in non-personal form. We do this to enable you to use the web pages you visit, for statistical purposes, and to improve our online offerings. We only store your IP address for the duration of your visit, and no person-specific analysis of data takes place.

Contact form

You can contact us via a contact form. We use the information collected in the contact form (first name, surname, email address and, where applicable, company, street, postcode/place, country, telephone number) and your message for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. The information will be deleted once it has been processed. In addition, data is stored for a maximum of 10 years as part of the legally required archiving of email correspondence (emails are business and commercial letters).

We only pass on your data to third parties where we are legally obliged to do so.

Contacting a staff member by email

You can contact us by sending us an email. You can send an email to info(at)media-central.de, for example, or to a specific email address of a staff member. We only use the data we receive as a result of you sending us an email (e.g. your name, your email address and the message itself) for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. The information will be deleted once it has been processed. In addition, data is stored for a maximum of 10 years as part of the legally required archiving of email correspondence (emails are business and commercial letters).

We pass on your data to third parties only where we are legally obliged to do so.

We are unable to guarantee complete data security when communicating by email, which is why we recommend sending information by post when there is a particular need for confidentiality.

Order form

We only store the information collected through the order form (first name, surname, street, house number, postcode/place, telephone number, email address and, where applicable, company address) for the purpose of contract fulfilment (i.e. delivery of the study ordered by you). Your data will be deleted as soon as we are no longer legally obliged to store them.

Use of cookies

We use the cookies technology on our web pages. Cookies are small text files which are sent from our web server to your browser when you visit our web pages, and they are stored on your computer for later retrieval.

  • This website uses the following cookies:
  • Transient cookies (temporary use)
  • Persistent cookies (use for a limited time)
  • Third-party cookies (by third-party providers)
  • Flash cookies (permanent use)

Transient cookies are deleted automatically when you close the browser. In particular, these include the session cookies, which store a so-called session ID used to associate various requests made by your browser with the joint session. This allows your computer to be recognised when you return to the website. The session cookies are deleted when you log off or close the browser.

Persistent cookies are automatically deleted after a specified period, which varies from cookie to cookie. You can delete the cookies at any time in the security settings of your browser.

You can configure your browser settings according to your wishes and, for example, reject third-party cookies or all cookies. We would like to point out, however, that you may not be able to use all features of this website in that case.

Flash cookies are not controlled by your browser, but rather by your flash plugin. These store the necessary data regardless of the browser used and they do not have an automatic expiry date. If you do not wish the flash cookies to be processed, you have to install an appropriate add-on, e.g. “Better Privacy” for Mozilla Firefox or Adobe Flash Cookie Killer for Google Chrome.

We do not collect or store personal data in this context. We do not use any technology that associates information obtained through cookies with user data.

For more information about cookies, visit the web portal of the Technical University of Berlin: www.verbraucher-sicher-online.de/thema/cookies

Web analysis

It is important to us for our web pages to be well designed and to make them attractive for our visitors. To be able to do this, we need to know which parts are popular with our visitors. For this, we use the following proven technologies.

Matomo (formerly PIWIK)

We use Matomo/PIWIK for our web pages, a so-called web analysis service, which allows us to anonymously analyse your usage behaviour on our web pages. Matomo/PIWIK uses cookies which are stored on your computer in your current browser. To this end, the usage information thus generated (including your abbreviated IP address) is transmitted to our servers. Your IP address is immediately anonymised during this process, which means that you as a user remain anonymous to us. The information generated by a cookie about your use of our web pages is not disclosed to third parties. You can prevent the use of cookies by changing the settings in your browser software.

If you do not agree to the storage and analysis of this data, you can object to it at any time by clicking below. In this case, a so-called opt-out cookie is set in your browser, which means that Matomo/Piwik does not collect any session data.

Please note: If you delete your cookies, the opt-out cookie will also be deleted and you may have to reactivate it, if required.

Integrated services

We offer the following external services to design our website and to make additional features available.

All of the services described below can be deactivated with special plugins for your browser or, more specifically, the necessary connection to the relevant servers is prevented. Please note, however, that using such tools may mean that everyday conveniences are not available – because features will then no longer work as generally expected.

Google Maps

We integrate content from Google Maps on our web pages to allow us to show the exact location of our Company in a simple way. This automatically creates a connection from your browser to Google Maps, which means that your IP address is also transmitted. If you are logged into your Google user account while you visit our web pages, Google may be able to associate your visit to our web pages with your user behaviour. Furthermore, Google may transmit more cookies to your browser. We have no influence over this procedure and do not receive information from Google about the transmitted content.

The provider is Google Inc. 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.

For more information about data protection at Google Inc., go to: www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/

Google Web Fonts

Google Web Fonts are implemented on our web pages. They are responsible for displaying fonts. When using Google Web Fonts, a server of Google in the USA is accessed, if your browser is not able to retrieve a local copy in the cache. Your IP address is transmitted to Google during this process. If you are logged into your Google user account while you visit our web pages, Google may be able to associate your visit to our web pages with your user behaviour.

Social media links

There are links to various social media platforms on our web pages. They are not social media plugins, but rather links to our offerings on these media platforms. For example, there is a link to our Xing account. These accounts, just like this website, are also operated by us (MEDIA Central Gesellschaft für Handelskommunikation & Marketing mbH). Clicking on one of these links transmits your IP address to the operators of the respective platform. If you use one of these services and you are logged in with your specific account, the operators of the social media platform may collect information about your surfing behaviour. The transmission of your IP address to the operators of the visited websites is necessary for technical reasons and applies to all websites.

The processing of your personal data in countries outside the EU and EEA

Your personal data is not processed in countries outside the European Union and the European Economic Area, with the exception of the social media applications: Google+.

Legal bases of the data processing

Here you will find an overview of the legal basis underlying the processing of your data.

Contact and order form

The processing of your data is lawful, because it is required to fulfil a contract which you are a contractual party to, or to implement pre-contractual measures following your request. The legal basis is Article 6 paragraph 1 (b) of the GDPR.

Web analysis (Matomo)

For the needs-based design of telemedia (such as websites), usage profiles may be drawn up if pseudonyms are used, provided you do not object. The legal basis can be found in Section 15 paragraph 3 of the German Telemedia Act (TMG).

Your rights: Information, correction, deletion, restriction

You have the right to access information about your personal data stored with us as well as a right to correction, deletion, restriction of processing or the right to object against such processing as well as a right to data portability, provided the relevant statutory data protection requirements are in place. If you have any questions about your rights, you can contact us at any time or send an email to our external data protection officer (for contact details, see above).

You also have the right to file a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, which is the state commissioner for data protection and freedom of information of North Rhine-Westphalia:

www.ldi.nrw.de/metanavi_Kontakt/index.php

If you give us consent for the processing of certain data, you can revoke this consent at any time.

Data security

We also take technical and organisational precautions to protect incoming or collected personal data, in particular from accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorised persons. Our security measures are revised continuously in line with technological development.
